Wide mats of hairy leaves, pink flowers early summer.
A strong-growing, spreading carpet of hairy, grey-green leaves, eventually quite wide but can always be trimmed. It is a very free-flowering plant - it is often completely covered with its pink flowers - and is a very early flowering Thyme (late May here). Only 5cm or so (2") high.
As the picture shows, the bees love it! They slowly crawl over the carpet of flowers checking each and every tiny flower for nectar. For me, just to sit and observe them for a few moments is one of the joys of a sunny day.
