A relatively recent introduction from Sani Pass in the mountains of South Africa, this forms close mats of fleshy leaves which are dark, plummy-red coloured in spring and are studded with tiny white flowers in late spring. It retains its dark foiliage all year but the new growth in spring is the brightest, just as the plant flowers.
Needs full sun and excellent drainage but is remarkably hardy given its origins. Ideal in a trough. Only 3cm (1") or so high at most.
Formerly known as Delosperma alpinum 'Sani Pass' and we still list it as that too (for now).
