A collection of 16 plants specially selected by us for planting in a raised bed, all different and all labelled.
Raised beds are an excellent way of growing alpines that show the plants off to full advantage. With the bed being raised off the ground (by low stone or brick walls, even timber 'sleepers') and filled with good, free-draining compost or soil mixture, the plants can hardy fail.
This is a premium collection - we include some of our more expensive plants, including many which are naturally neat and desirable like the small silver Saxifrages, the best of the small Campanulas, Dianthus and Primulas, Androsace, Saponaria, Gentians etc., etc. We try to include a few plants that will naturally spread a little to drape over the edges.
This collection and our Trough plant collectionoverlap in many ways and you could equally use this collection in a larger trough. We don't include plants which will spread excessively and take over - more vigorous plants have their place, but it's not here!
We can also select plants to suit your particular requirements, whether it may be a dry and sunny bed or cool and moist etc. The more information you can give us then the better the selection we can choose just for you.
