Mercury
- Excellent dark red variety.
The rosettes are dark plum-coloured for most of the year giving a long period of interest but in spring the colour brightens and intensifies.
The leaves are fairly hard and smooth making Mercury more weather resistant than most but it still demands full sun and good drainage. Seen here growing happily in a handful of soil pressed into a dry stone wall.
Definitely one of our favourite dark red Houseleeks and one we have grown for many years.
Bred by Edward Skrocki (USA) 1973
Sent in 9cm pots as growing, established plants.
